Marie and Henri’s gorgeous destination wedding was proof that smaller, intimate celebrations hold a massive amount of magic. Traveling all the way from Germany with 30 of their closest family and friends, the couple envisioned a heartfelt, relaxed South African celebration—and the historic Boschendal estate in Franschhoek provided the ultimate backdrop. The incredible team at Weddings Out of Africa orchestrated every detail flawlessly, ensuring the day felt seamless, elegant, and deeply personal.

While August in the Cape Winelands can be unpredictable, the weather completely aligned for Marie and Henri. It turned out to be the most perfect, crisp winter’s day. The moody skies allowed all 30 guests to sit comfortably outside for the ceremony, surrounded by Boschendal’s signature mountain views. The joy in the air was so real as Marie and Henri exchanged their vows under the gentle winter sun.

Because the guest list was kept intentionally small, everyone at this wedding shared a special bond. This made the guest photo session an absolute highlight of the day! Instead of stiff, formal line-ups, we had a brilliant, fun time capturing genuine laughs, warm hugs, and the tight-knit energy of this lovely group celebrating together.

As the afternoon began to wind down, I slipped away with the newlyweds for their couple portraits. The Franschhoek valley turned on its signature charm, framing the couple against the jaw-dropping Drakenstein mountain backdrop just as the golden hour light began to soften.Marie and Henri were incredibly natural in front of the lens, allowing the glowing winter sunset to create the perfect end to a flawless day. Thank you to you and your family who made me feel so welcome.
