Amelia and Nick live in London, and I got the opportunity to meet them in their home city while I was shooting a wedding there in September. It was terribly cool to say “No let me meet you in London as I will be there for a destination wedding”. Not sure if this clinched the deal. Hopefully not and I hope it was my photos. Hahahaha.
Either way I got to meet a really considerate and sweet couple. Both softly spoken but they had a large retinue to make up for that. The day was spent laughing and joking. I had a stunning time. The wedding was held in Groot Constantia’s Jonkershuis, such a beautiful venue. Amelia and Nick had the best weather, and we got to make the most of the vineyards and the surrounding gardens.
What I love about weddings is that a group of people from all over the world come together to celebrate love. I could see that Amelia and Nick’s friends truly cherish them and this is testament to them being such a lovely couple.
A few words from Amelia about her day:
Our wedding day was more than we could have ever dreamed of or wished for. We loved every single minute of it! We were blessed with a perfect summers day in Cape Town and an absolutely breath-taking venue and setting, but most of all having all of our family and friends from across the globe, in one place, to start and celebrate our new chapter with us, made our day what it was. It had been a year of planning, done from the UK, so pulling everything together was challenging at times, but together with my incredible Mum and our great suppliers (all found by my Mum) we managed to have a disaster-free and picture-perfect day! There were so many highpoints throughout the day, from getting ready with my beautiful bridesmaids, to our intimate ceremony at Christ Church Constantia, our photo shoot, the brilliant speeches, cutting our magnificent cake and of course that moment when we had to open the dance floor and weren’t quite sure whether we were going to remember all the moves we had planned! But walking down the aisle (both ways – one way with obviously slightly more nerves), being announced at the venue as Mr and Mrs to an applauding, cheering crowd and sitting at our table able to see spread out in front of us how we were surrounded by all the most important people in our lives gave me goosebumps. We felt so special and humbled. We had a magical day filled with so much love, fun and laughter, I would go back in a heartbeat and do it ten times over if I could! And thanks to our amazing photographer, we have the most unbelievable documented memories, the absolute cherry-on-the-top of a spectacular wedding day.
